CAS integration project

For my CAS integration project I want to work for my community. I want to be able to create a product which my community can benefit from and at the same time I can improve one of the things I enjoyed during my school years here at CIC. I’ve been involved in the model united nations program since 6th grade and I’ve been familiar with the process ever since. I started in 6th grade as a delegate in Junior Model United Nations until 8th grade, in 9th grade I participated as an admin in SAMUN and as the disarmament chair in JMUN, in 10th grade I was assigned the disarmament committee for SAMUN and the president of the Iranian Supreme Council for JMUN, in 11th grade I was the president of the security council for SAMUN and the under secretary general for JMUN, I also got to travel to The Hague as the head of my delegation for The Hague International Model United Nations. This year in SAMUN I’ll be the under secretary general and president of the first general assembly on sustainable development. So my idea is to make a documentary recording all steps of SAMUN, that way next generations and students involve with SAMUN are able to keep track or somehow be guided on what they have to do with SAMUN and for it to be a success.

Activities Plan

My plan for this school year is to keep up with all activities I do at school.

For SAMUN, I plan to be the under secretary general and run one the General Assembly of Sustainable Development. I will be training delegates and chairs to know how to run their committees and make sure they know their procedures. I will be helping the Admin Chief to do his job and be as an aid for the Secretary General.

For Volleyball, I am planning to improve my skills on receiving and spiking. I want to serve over hand so I will practice that until I am able to have a strong serve for the VANAS tournament. I want to be a leader in the court where I can make the girls work as a team to finally win the tournament.

For Soccer, I am planning to improve my physical fitness to be able to be a better and more important player for the team, so this will help the team with the middle field section so we can have a good defense, good midfielders and a great attackers at the front!

For Basketball, I am planning to make sure the team knows their plays. It is an essential factor in the Basketball VANAS tournament to be fast and know what you are doing. We have to be one step ahead of the other teams to actually get placed in the top 3.

For Spanish Drama, I am exciting for finally being a protagonist on the play. We will be doing "Aqui no paga nadie" which is a comedy written by Dario Fo. Even though it is a long play, we will make it shorter and eliminate some lines of my character. I think its going to be a great year for Spanish Drama this year!

The band will be playing in concerts like it does every year i will be the leader of my section and we will be practicing even more per section to make sure we can improve our sound and also be able to listen to each other and improve our articulations and dynamics to improve the overall sound of the whole band.

I am planning to assisst to the AYA activities like trips to orphanages and also Christmas party and also clash of color. It will be a very good year for the AYA club since a lot of us are really excited to help out not only in supply for the orphanages but actually making activities for them when we go visit them.

Painting Wall w/ Mr. Mike

Friday and wednesday I worked with Mr. Mike and other students with the big project the school has going on with the improvement of our community Las Minas, we are painting the wall of their polideportivo where all the kids play baseball. It has been really fun since I do not take art class so it was a long time since I worked with paint and been so detailed about something. I really enjoyed it and I was pretty amazed of how detailed I am!

Elementary Language Day

For closure of the Language Week a group of high school students (me included) performed several skits in the morning in english and some short stories in spanish in the afternoon. The elementary kids were amazing and so much fun! They laughed and learned lessons from our skits and stories also about the authors and really enjoyed our acting. I think it was a great activity were I learn a lot from entertaining kids. I learned that keeping an activity simple also catch the kids' attention and entertainment! They really enjoyed it. :)

Vanas BB @ CIC

Girl's basketball VANAS was hosted by CIC this year, it was a lot of fun like always. The pressure was on as soon as we played our first game, and I have to recognize that i was not ready for such stress. The teams were tough and they were better at skills and fitness in comparison to us. We were a younger team in comparison and the preparation we've had was not as strong as it should have been, therefore i believe that next time we begin basketball season we should all be committed into having practices and getting better to finally win one of this basketball VANAS!

JMUN

The Junior Model United Nations was hosted by CIC once again, and I participated as one of the organizers of the event and got to learn what a position of leader ship is. It helped me a lot to realize that a lot of pressure comes on when being a leader and that you need to be strong to do lead people and a conference into success. I had a lot of fun and it was a bit crazy and amazing how much work it had to be done not only before the conference but also during the conference.

THIMUN

In January, i had the privilege to represent my school in The Hague International Model United Nations where I was a delegate in the committee of Human Rights and was the head delegation, which means I lead my school's delegation in the General Assembly. The experience was amazing and I really learned a lot of Model United Nations. I realize how important it is for us to discuss everything on the world because it is our future and we will have to deal with it when we grow up. I felt amazed about how international schools around the world get together and you get to meet a lot of people and discuss very important issues.

SAMUN

In this South American Model United Nations I had the priviledge of being the chair of the Security Council committee. I had the oportunity to be more close to the structure and preparation of the event. And this way I learned so much about model united nations and this helps in the organisation of Junior Model United Nation. I enjoyed all the conference but mostly tthe days in CorpBanca where all delegates were debating the resolutions. It was a great conference and I really had an amazing time.

VANAS Soccer @ Valencia 2010

I participated in this year's soccer team and I think it was a really important event to participate in. I fully understood the idea of a leader needing the ability to follow sometimes. I think the whole situation made me grow and mature greatly. What I enjoyed the most for sure, was supporting the boys team because we showed that we are getting closer as a school and the actual school spirit is rasing. I'm happy I was there.

VANAS Volleyball @ Maracaibo 2009

We started the season with great energy and managed to have a full team in no time. In the tournament we worked as a team and won all of our games except against Valencia. I think it was really exciting to get to the finals, of course it was a shame that we didn't get first place but we manage to prove that we wanted it more and worked hard to accomplish and win against the other schools. It was the first time I was in a final and I learned how to deal with the pressure and I know we grew as a team because we were able to work hard and do our best on all games! It was amazingly fun!

Spanish Drama

We had a drama night at CIC where High School students and Middle School students gave a "Comedy Night" where four short plays were performed. The HS students performed "En la diestra de Dios Padre" and "Los pintores no tienen recuerdo" I worked on both plays and manage to improve my acting skills in a huge way. We accomplished to have two amazing performance nights and pleased the crowd. I think I managed to increase my ability to learn the text for the play getting information on how to memorise scripts; this is really useful because I learned new skills for studying for test in school. I enjoyed being a part of this production and once again, succeed.

AYA Bambi Orphanage

This was a christmas event where we played with the kidsand we had a snack while the CIC sax quartet played christmas music. We then had Santa give out the presents for the kids. It was really fun I got to spent time with all the children. I learned more of the whole process of planning AYA trips since I had to take one of the leadership roles in the event. I enjoyed watching all the kids getting very excited when they saw Santa and even more when they received their gifts. It was a great experience.
